The Costa Mesa, CA residents in this next case did not have a great start to their weekend when they discovered their Honda Accord had been stolen one Friday evening. The LoJack® system they had installed when they bought the car proved its worth by helping local police recover the Accord in just over three hours after activation.

On September 6th, 2013, the Honda’s owners contacted the Costa Mesa PD to report their vehicle stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at AutoWay Honda in Clearwater, FL.

A short while later, officers with the Santa Ana PD picked up the homing signals from the Honda with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the vehicle in a parking lot on N. Brookhurst Street. Officers maintained a surveillance of the vehicle and saw several subjects approach the vehicle. They were removing items from the Accord and putting them in another vehicle. One subject entered the Honda and began backing the car out of a parking stall. Officers approached, stopped the vehicle and detained all subjects involved. The Accord was soon returned to its happy and relieved owners.
