It must have been a tremendous shock to the owner of the Toyota Highlander in this case when she discovered her SUV missing late one Monday morning. The rest of her day went a little better, because local law enforcement, assisted by the LoJack® system, recovered her vehicle in just three hours after activation.

On September 9th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted San Diego Police to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Highlander, which was installed at Bob Baker Toyota in Lemon Grove, CA.

A short time later, officers from San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Toyota to the corner of Elizabeth Street and Logan Avenue in San Diego. A male suspect sitting in the driver’s seat was taken into custody. The owner was thrilled to get her undamaged Highlander back so quickly.
