The San Diego, CA resident in this case was alarmed to find his Ford Explorer missing just after 11 p.m. one Sunday evening. His local police, with help from the LoJack® system, were able to ease his worry by recovering his SUV in less than two hours after activation.

On September 8th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted San Diego Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Explorer, which was installed at Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Explorer to a commercial area on Gamma Street in San Diego. A female found in the driver’s seat was arrested and the undamaged Ford was soon returned to its very happy owner.
