The kindly owner of a 2011 Ford Fusion in this case offered to drive some friends to the train station very early one Wednesday morning, and how did they pay her back? By kicking her out of the car and driving it away. Although our victim didn’t pick her friends very well, she made a great choice when she had the LoJack® system installed when buying her car, so local police were able to recover it for her that same morning.

On September 4th, 2013, the Ford’s owner called police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Fusion, which was installed at Huntington Beach Ford in Huntington Beach, CA.

A short while later, officers with the Sacramento Police and the Citrus Heights Police began to receive the homing signal from the Focus on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle being driven by a female suspect near the intersection of Jimmie Pope St and Hayes Ave. The car was stopped and the suspect arrested. The owner was very happy to have her Ford Fusion returned.
