The owner of the Cadillac Escalade in this case must feel that purchasing the LoJack® system for his SUV was a great investment, since this particular incident was the fifth time in 10 months that it was stolen and then retrieved using LoJack. In this most recent situation, two branches of California law enforcement recovered the Escalade in just 10 minutes after activation.

On August 15th, 2013, the Cadillac’s owners contacted Chino, CA Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Escalade, which was installed at Crestview Cadillac in West Covina, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a detective from the Los Angeles TRAP (Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention) picked up the homing signal from the Cadillac on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the SUV as it was being driven out of a car wash in Pomona, and requested backup. A traffic stop was performed and a male suspect taken into custody. The undamaged Escalade was returned to its happy owner.
