This case is a great example of teamwork. Ground and air police units from Hawthorne, CA, team up with the LoJack® system to recover an Acura MDX stolen from Gardena in just 13 minutes after activation.

On August 8th, 2013, the Acura owners contacted Gardena Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Celebrity Auto Leasing in Los Alamitos, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, Hawthorne Police Air-55 picked up the homing signal on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their airship. The flight crew tracked the Acura to the area of the 405 Freeway and Artesia Blvd and requested backup. Ground units from Hawthorne PD caught up to the Acura on the 405 Freeway. A passenger jumped out as the car was moving, but was soon apprehended. The Acura eventually came to a stop and the driver was taken into custody. The owners of the MDX were happy and relieved to have their undamaged vehicle back in their possession.
