The victims in this case had their Honda CDX stolen by an acquaintance. The thief may have known the owners, but he wasn’t aware that the vehicle was protected with the LoJack® system, which assisted local police in recovering the CDX in just over a half hour after activation.

On July 29th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Ontario, CA Police to report that their vehicle was stolen. Ontario PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the CDX, which was installed at Penske Honda in Ontario, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department in Fontana picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was tracked to Iris Drive, where it was parked near a private residence with a passenger inside. While police questioned the passenger, the suspected thief exited the home. Both were taken into custody and the undamaged CDX was soon returned to its happy owners.
