In this case, air and ground units from the same city work with the LoJack® system to locate a stolen GMC Yukon in only eight minutes after activation.

On July 26th, 2013, the GMC’s owner contacted the Riverside Police to report that their vehicle was stolen. Riverside PD verified the theft and they entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Yukon, which was installed at Enterprise Auto Sales in Victorville, CA.

A very short time later, a Riverside Sheriff’s unit picked up the homing signal from the SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers contacted Riverside PD Helicopter RPD-1 for assistance in locating the vehicle. The flight officers located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Columbia and notified ground units, who stopped it and took two suspects into custody. The Yukon was soon returned to its rightful owner.
