A Honda Accord was stolen in Fresno, CA, and the owner knew the person who took it. Luckily, the owner also knew it was a smart idea to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his car, so local police were able to recover it in just seven minutes after activation.

On July 23rd, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department (FCSD) to report that their vehicle had been stolen by a known suspect. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Vandergriff Honda in Arlington, TX.

Just a few minutes later, a Deputy from the FCSD picked up the homing signals from the Honda with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Deputy tracked the vehicle to a residence near Thompson and Mountain View avenues in Selma. The Deputy located the vehicle parked in front of the home. The Accord was parked in front of a private home. The suspect, who was inside the home, had the keys to the car as well as other items belonging to the victim in his possession. He was taken into custody, and later found to be wanted on a warrant for violation of parole. The undamaged Honda was soon returned to its grateful owner.
