Thieves often stash the vehicles they take in crowded parking areas, thinking that law enforcement officials won’t be able to spot a stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle when it’s one of many crammed into a busy lot or garage. The LoJack® system disproves that theory, because it sends off a homing signal that directs police to the exact vehicle no matter how many other machines are nearby.

On July 5th, 2013, the owner of a Honda Civic EX contacted the Bakersfield, CA Police to report that their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Goudy Honda of Alhambra, CA.

A short while later, an investigator from KERNCatt, the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force, picked up the homing signals from the Honda with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his undercover vehicle. The investigator tracked the car to the parking lot of a motel on Buck Owens Boulevard. The suspect was inside the Civic and was quickly taken into custody. The undamaged vehicle was soon returned to its relieved owner.
