Imagine walking out of the mall, carrying a bunch of purchases, and then finding out your vehicle has been stolen. Scary, aggravating, inconvenient- this situation can be all those and more. The California based victim in this case benefited from something purchased the day he bought his Toyota Sequoia- the LoJack® system, which helped police recover the stolen SUV in a little over an hour and a half after activation.

On July 27th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted Walnut Creek Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Sequoia, which was installed at Toyota Walnut Creek in Walnut Creek, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, California Highway Patrol (CHP)-Contra Costa officers picked up the homing signals from the Toyota with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The CHP officers tracked the SUV to an unincorporated area of Walnut Creek where it was found parked and abandoned on the street. The undamaged Sequoia was soon returned to its relieved owner.
