In this case a stolen Honda CR-V is located by an air unit using the LoJack® system and recovered by ground officers. The suspect/driver tried to escape on foot but is tracked by the air unit and finally captured.

On August 6th, 2013, the Honda’s owners contacted Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department- Temple Station to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at Moreno Valley GMC Buick in Moreno Valley, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Air 21 flight deputies picked up the homing signal from the Honda on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their airship. They contacted LASD South El Monte deputies on the ground and directed them to Broadmead Ave where the vehicle was moving northward. The ground unit stopped the CR-V. The driver fled on foot but was pursued by the air unit and soon captured. The SUV was soon returned to its happy owners.
