A Mercedes Benz E350 is stolen from Newport Beach, CA in this case. Local law enforcement, assisted by the LoJack® system, not only retrieves the vehicle but catches the thief as well.

On July 30th, 2013, the owners of the Mercedes contacted Newport, CA Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Costa Mesa PD picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The vehicle was located parked on Maple Street. Surveillance was set up and a male attempted to enter the Mercedes. The suspect, who was later found to have a history of auto theft charges, tried to flee but was quickly taken into custody. The E350 was soon returned to its relieved owners.
