The LoJack® system was created to help police locate stolen cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles fast- sometimes so fast it’s incredible- as in this case where a Toyota MTX truck is recovered in just seven minutes after activation.

On July 23rd, 2013, the Toyota’s owners contacted Long Beach PD to report their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the MTX, which was installed at Toyota of North Hollywood, CA, was then automatically activated.

A very short time later, officers from Long Beach PD West Division had picked up the homing signal from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the truck to Long Beach Blvd and located it in a parking lot. As they approached the vehicle, they observed a suspect standing next to it. He was detained and the keys were found in his possession, along with some narcotics. The suspect was booked and the undamaged MTX was soon returned to its grateful owner.
