Ground and air units from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD), assisted by the LoJack® system, work together to recover a stolen Dodge Avenger and arrest the suspected thief, in just a little over one hour after activation.

On July 18th, 2013, the Avenger’s owners contacted the Pasadena Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. Pasadena PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Dodge, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Pasadena, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, LASD Air-24 flight deputies picked up the homing signal from the Dodge on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their airship. They located the Avenger traveling on 92nd St. Deputies from the LASD Century Station also received the signal and stopped the vehicle. The female driver was taken into custody and the undamaged Avenger was soon returned to its grateful owners.
