It’s not certain if the El Cajon, CA resident in this case woke up out of a sound sleep, or is just a night owl, but it was surely a shock for him to find his Toyota Corolla missing from his driveway just after midnight recently. Luckily, he had the LoJack® system installed when he bought his car, enabling local law enforcement to recover it well before breakfast.

On June 20th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the El Cajon Police to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence. El Cajon PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Elk Grove Toyota in Elk Grove, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from La Mesa Police picked up the homing signals from the Corolla on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  They tracked the vehicle to a residential area at the 2700 block of Navajo Road in La Mesa.  Two suspects were in the car and both were taken into custody.  The owner was very happy when his Corolla was returned with no damage.
