The LoJack® system helps police track stolen cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles and construction machines. Its primary purpose is to assist police in locating these vehicles so they can be quickly returned to their rightful owners. If the thieves happen to get caught in the process, so much the better. In this case, two criminals get busted when police recover a stolen Toyota Tacoma- while they’re getting into it!

On June 27th, 2013, the owner of a Toyota Tacoma contacted the Santa Ana, CA Police to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence. Santa Ana PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Toyota Tacoma, which was installed at Toyota of Garden Grove, CA.

A short while later, officers from the Tustin, CA Police picked up the homing signals from the Tacoma on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential area in Tustin.  Orange County Auto Theft Task Force (OCATT) investigators were notified and began surveillance on the Toyota.  Two suspects were observed entering the vehicle.  Both were taken into custody and charged with vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.  The victim was very happy when his undamaged Tundra was quickly returned to him.
