Late one Thursday afternoon, the California residents in this case discovered their Chevrolet Tahoe missing. It was not missing for long, thanks to their local police and the LoJack® system the owners had installed upon purchase, which enabled the stolen SUV to be located in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On June 20th, 2013, the Tahoe’s owners contacted Santa Ana, CA Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. SAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Showcase Chevrolet Geo in Westminster, CA.

A short time later, a Garden Grove PD officer was on routine patrol when he picked up the homing signal coming from the Tahoe on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the car ta stolen Chevrolet Tahoe that had been activated just over an hour prior.  He was able to track this signal to a motel parking lot.  The officer contacted the Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT) for assistance. They set up surveillance and soon captured a male motel guest entering the SUV. He was arrested with a shaved key in his possession, and methamphetamine was found in his motel room. The Chevy was soon returned to its very relieved owners.
