The LoJack® system is the only stolen vehicle recovery system that works in conjunction with your local law enforcement. The police presence is very important in a situation like this case, where deputies recovered vehicle parts, drugs, and firearms as well as the missing 2010 Melroe Bob Cat Skid Steer, all in just a little over two hours after activation!

On June 5th, 2013, the Bob Cat’s owners contacted Orange, CA Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the skid steer, which was installed at a large national equipment rental company.

A short while later, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air-24 flight deputies picked up the homing signal from the Melroe and tracked it to Compton.  The skid steer was located in a junk salvage yard that had numerous containers, trailers and car parts.  The flight crew alerted deputies from the LASD Compton station, who arrived at the yard and detained several individuals on the property. The Air-24 crew directed the ground units to several other suspects hiding in various parts of the yard. The deputies began a sweep of the yard and located another suspect inside a homemade bunker.  Inside the bunker they found a loaded handgun, several shotguns, some methamphetamine and 49 large bundles of marijuana.  The Bob Cat, valued at $30,000, was soon returned to its grateful owners.
