This San Diego resident’s weekend didn’t start off well when her Toyota 4Runner went missing one Friday morning. However, she did have the LoJack® system installed in her car, so her local law enforcement made her day a whole lot better when they recovered her vehicle just two hours and 10 minutes after activation!

On May 31st, 2013, the 4Runner’s owner contacted San Diego County Sheriff’s Department 4S  Ranch substation, to report her vehicle was stolen from her residence. SDCSD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Toyota, which was installed at Toyota of Riverside, CA.

A short time later, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Air Unit (ASTREA) picked up the homing signals from the 4Runner on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter.  The deputies tracked the vehicle to a residential area in San Diego, where the vehicle was found parked and abandoned. The undamaged Toyota was soon returned to its very happy owner.
