The LoJack® System’s purpose is to assist law enforcement in the recovery of stolen vehicles. In this particular case, air and ground officers combined forces to locate a stolen Honda Civic in just 13 minutes after activation!

On April 28th, 2013, the Civic’s owners contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Industry Station to report their vehicle had been stolen. LASD deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Long Beach Honda in Signal Hill, CA.

Within minutes of activation, LASD Air-8 flight deputies picked up the homing signal from the stolen Honda and located it in a motel parking lot in Pomona. The deputies notified ground units who converged on the motel and spoke to witnesses who identified the suspect and the room he was in. The suspect was taken into custody and the undamaged Civic was soon returned to its relieved owners.
