‘With friends like these, who needs enemies?’ is an old English proverb that really rings true in this situation, where some Inglewood, California residents had their BMW 745i stolen by someone they know.  It’s good news for these victims that the LoJack® system does not discriminate- it will help your local police track down your vehicle, no matter who stole it.

On March 28th, 2013, the owners of a BMW 745i reported to the Inglewood, CA police that their vehicle was taken from their home driveway by an acquaintance whose name they provided. The Inglewood PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the BMW, which was installed at Executive Image Auto Group in Riverside, CA.

A short while later, LAPD Harbor Division officers picked up the homing signals from the BMW on the LoJack Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers tracked the signal to a hotel parking lot on Pacific Coast Highway, where they found the car unoccupied. The suspect, who had checked into the hotel, admitted taking his friend’s vehicle and was taken into custody. The 745i was soon returned undamaged to its owners.
