The purpose of the LoJack® System is not only to retrieve stolen vehicles, but to do so as quickly as possible. The less time that thieves have your car in their possession means less time for them to damage or even disassemble it. In this instance, a 2008 Acura Alt was recovered in less than two hours.
On March 16th, 2013, the Acura owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Acura, which was installed at Acura 101 West in Calabasas, CA.
In a short while, officers from San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen Acura on their LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood, where they found the Alt abandoned and undamaged. It was soon returned to its owner.
