On February 4, 2013, the owner of a BMW 323I contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his home. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their computer, which automatically activated the LoJack® unit concealed in the BMW, which was installed at Brecht BMW of Escondido, CA.

Within five minutes, San Diego PD  officers picked up signals from the stolen BMW on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their vehicle.  The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood in San Diego. It took only 22 minutes between activation of the LoJack device and recovery of the stolen car.

The owner was very happy when San Diego Police contacted him to pick up his BMW which was located abandoned and undamaged.
