On January 10, 2013, the owner of a 2010 Audi A4 discovered the vehicle stolen and immediately reported the theft to the Davis Police Department.

Davis Police verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the national system, NCIC. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.  Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Transponder because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.

Less than 30 minutes later, officers with the Davis Police Department began to receive the silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack computer, the officers tracked and located the parked and abandoned Audi. The victim was contacted and responded to take possession of his vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2010 Audi A4 at Royal Motor Sales in January of 2010. Approximate value of the recovered Audi A4 is $27,000.
