On November 16, 2012, the owner of a 2001 Oldsmobile IGX contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the area of 4100 Van Dyke Street in the city of San Diego.

San Diego Police verified the theft and entered the Oldsmobile’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Minutes later, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Oldsmobile IGX on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to residential area in the 6300 block of University Avenue in San Diego.  The officers observed a suspect in the vehicle; he was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The owner was very happy when San Diego Police contacted him to advise that the vehicle was recovered undamaged.  The Oldsmobile IGX was valued at approximately $4,750.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Oldsmobile, IGX on July 17, 2002 at Enterprise Car Sales, in Vista, California.
