On October 18, the owner of a 2006 Ford F350 pickup truck received an Early Warning notification from LoJack that his vehicle may have been moved without his consent. The owner checked on the vehicle, only to discover it missing from his office parking lot, where he had left it. He then contacted the Houston Police Department to report the crime.

Houston Police verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup truck.

A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford F350 pickup truck on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the pickup to an apartment parking lot located in West Houston.  Houston Police Department tactical officers were summoned to the location, and surveillance was established on the vehicle. After some time had passed without any activity, the pickup was recovered and stored until the owner could retrieve it.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford F350 pickup truck on October 2005 through Direct Sales – Houston in Dallas, Texas.
