On October 5, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Cadillac CTS contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the city of Spring Valley.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Cadillac.

Within minutes, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Cadillac CTS on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to parking lot in a commercial neighborhood at 11th Avenue in San Diego. The vehicle, valued at approximately $13,000, was recovered abandoned and undamaged, and returned to the very grateful owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Cadillac CTS on April 18, 2005 at Marvin K. Brown Auto Center in San Diego, California.
