On October 6, 2012, the owner of a 2010 Acura TXS contacted the New York Police Department’s 67th Precinct, East Flatbush Brooklyn NY, to report his Acura stolen. According to the owner, he had parked the Acura down the block from his house, and when he returned for it the following day, he found the vehicle missing.

NYPD officers verified the theft and had the Acura’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Brooklyn South Auto Larceny Unit picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Acura on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Acura through various streets in the 67th and 63rd Precincts, and eventually located the vehicle, parked and abandoned in the 67th Precinct. They decided to stake the Acura out; however, after a short time had passed and no one returned for the vehicle, they took it into custody.

The vehicle was recovered in excellent condition, without any damage. The owner was notified, and was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Acura TXS on June 6, 2010 at Paragon Acura in Woodside, New York.
