On July 22, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Chrysler Sebring convertible contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from his residence in the Orlando area. Orange County deputies verified the theft and entered the Chrysler’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chrysler on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the deputies tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex in the Pine Hills section of the county. Surveillance was set up on the Sebring, but after a few hours without any suspect activity, the deputies recovered the vehicle and returned it to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chrysler Sebring in October 2008.
