On August 4, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck contacted the Houston Police Department to report that the vehicle was stolen from the owner’s place of employment in Houston, Texas.  Houston Police verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup truck.

A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford pickup on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the pickup to an apartment parking lot, where the vehicle was located parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance without any activity, officers recovered the pickup and notified the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford F250 pickup in September of 2006 at Russell & Smith Ford in Houston, Texas.
