On August 18, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Land Rover Range Rover contacted the Cobb County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a building complex in Marietta, Georgia. Cobb County Police verified the theft and entered the Land Rover’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Cobb County Police picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Land Rover on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot a few blocks from where it was stolen. The vehicle was found in good condition.

The officer believed that the person who took the vehicle saw the keys and drove it to an apartment complex nearby.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Land Rover on December 21, 2007 at Hennessy Land Rover in Buckhead.
