On July 9, 2012, the owners of a 2006 Scion TC contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department-Lost Hills Station to report that their vehicle was stolen.  LASD deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Scion.
A short while later, LAPD “Air 10” flight officers, picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Scion on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their air unit. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the flight officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot in the area of the 19800 block of Randall Street. Officers from the LAPD’s Devonshire Division responded to the area and set up a perimeter.  Two suspects entered the vehicle and drove away from the location; the officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects failed to comply and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Before long, the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a traffic collision; the suspects were then taken into custody for auto theft-related charges without further incident. The vehicle was recovered and impounded for safekeeping.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this vehicle in July of 2010 at Toyota of Oxnard. The value of this recovery is $11,275.00.
