On June 7, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Toyota Corolla contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from the driveway at her residence in San Diego. San Diego officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota Corolla on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Corolla to a residential neighborhood at Isocoma Street in San Diego.

The owner was very happy when San Diego Police contacted her to retrieve the vehicle which was recovered abandoned and undamaged.  The vehicle was valued at approximately $9, 000.00.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in May of 2009 at Toyota of Escondido.
