Stolen Toyota Sequoia Recovered with LoJack System Installed Less than 3 Months Earlier

On the evening of May 30, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Toyota Sequoia contacted the California Highway Patrol Department to report the vehicle stolen. The victim stated that he had parked her vehicle at a “Park & Ride” and gone to work, and when she returned later that day, she discovered it missing. CHP officers verified the theft and had the Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
A short time later, officers with the Galt Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department began to receive the Toyota’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Tracker, the officers located the vehicle, parked and abandoned in a residential neighborhood in the city of Galt. The police recovered the Toyota and contacted the grateful owner, who responded to the scene to take possession of her vehicle.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Sequoia when the owner purchased the vehicle less than three months earlier.
