On the morning of May 28, 2012, the owner of a Honda Accord contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Department to report the vehicle stolen. After verifying the theft, Kern County officers had the Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
Minutes later, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department began to receive the Honda’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his police vehicle. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Tracker, the officer tracked the vehicle to a residential area in Oildale, a suburb of Bakersfield. The Honda was found intact and undamaged, abandoned in an alley. The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Accord at the owner’s request in May of 1997.
