San Diego Officers Quickly Recover Stolen Ford Escape, Identify Possible Suspect

On May 5, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Ford Escape reported the vehicle stolen to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. After verifying the theft, San Diego officers had the Ford’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the vehicle.
A short time later, officers with the San Diego Police Department began to pick up the Ford’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack Trackers, the officers located the stolen Ford abandoned near the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard in the City of San Diego. The undamaged vehicle was recovered and returned to the grateful owner.
Auto theft investigators are handling the ongoing investigation, based on evidence found in the vehicle that identified a possible suspect.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford Escape in August of 2009.
