On May 25, 2012, the owner of a 2007 BMW 650 XI reported the vehicle stolen to the San Diego Police Department. After verifying the theft, San Diego officers had the BMW’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the San Diego and La Mesa Police Departments began to pick up the BMW’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack Trackers, the officers located the stolen BMW abandoned near the 6000 block of Lake Murray Boulevard in the City of La Mesa.  Witnesses observed a male and a female exiting the vehicle. Auto theft investigators are handling the ongoing investigation.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the BMW 650 XI in May of 2010.
