Kern County Deputy Recovers Stolen Chevrolet Silverado Quickly by Using LoJack

On May 5, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck reported the vehicle stolen to the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. After verifying the theft, Kern County officers had the Silverado’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup.
A short time later, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department began receiving the silent LoJack signal from the stolen pickup on his patrol vehicle’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack Tracker, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 200 Block of Ferguson Avenue in Bakersfield. The vehicle was found intact and undamaged, abandoned on the side of the road. The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado at the owner’s request in June of 2009.
