Nissan Rogue SUV Stolen and Recovered in Baltimore by Police Using LoJack

On the morning of May 22, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Nissan Rogue SUV contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from Potter Street in the Brooklyn area of south Baltimore. After verifying the theft, Baltimore officers had the Nissan’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the SUV.

A short while later, flight officers assigned to the Baltimore County Police Department’s aviation unit received the silent LoJack homing signal with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. Detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team responded and located the vehicle in on Brooks Lane in West Baltimore. The detectives set up surveillance for a period of time, but when no suspects returned to the vehicle, they recovered the undamaged vehicle and returned it to the grateful owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan at the new car buyer’s request in January of 2008.
