On May 14, 2012, an officer from the Alhambra Police Department was on routine patrol when his on board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up a silent homing signal. When the officer queried the LoJack Reply Code appearing on the PTC against the nationwide law enforcement crime database, the officer was alerted that he was tracking a 1998 Acura Integra reported stolen to the Fontana Police Department earlier that day.

After receiving a description of the Acura, the officer requested assistance from the Pasadena Police Department’s flight officers. PD-1 flight officers responded to the area of

Hillmod and Freemont area and were able to quickly locate the vehicle, parked on Carlos and Garvey. Alhambra ground units arrived and established surveillance on the vehicle. Within a few minutes, officers observed a male suspect entering the stolen Acura. Officers converged upon the vehicle, taking the lone suspect into custody without further incident.  The vehicle was later stored for safekeeping, and the suspect booked for Grand Theft Auto.

The case was referred to detectives to follow-up.
