LoJack Aids in Recovery of Stolen Sequoia, Arrest of 3 Suspects, in Escondido

When the owners of a 2003 Toyota Sequoia discovered that their vehicle had been stolen on the morning of May 9, they reported the theft to the Escondido Police Department. It was the Police department’s routine entry of the Toyota’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. The activation prompted the transponder to begin emitting a silent homing signal to police patrol vehicles in the area equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs).
Less than two hours later, the LoJack silent homing signals were picked up by Escondido Police ground units and San Diego County Sheriff’s helicopter on their PTCs. Following the computer’s directional signals, the officers located the Sequoia being driven in a parking lot at the Escondido Valley Fair Mall. The officers observed three suspects inside the vehicle and placed them all under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle.
This Toyota Sequoia had been installed with the LoJack Vehicle Recovery System nine years ago in San Diego, California. The current owners were happy that their vehicle had LoJack and had been recovered undamaged.
