On April 30, 2012, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Hollywood patrol officers began to pick up the silent LoJack homing signal from a 2007 Yamaha YZF R-1 reported stolen minutes earlier to the LAPD-Northeast Division. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicles, the officers tracked the motorcycle to the area of the 5600 block of Satsuma Avenue.

While at the location, LAPD “Air 16” flight officers reported that they were picking up the LoJack signal from a Dodge van parked nearby the officer’s location, and that the van was leaving the area. The officers followed the van and conducted a felony traffic stop, whereby they took two suspects into custody without incident for auto theft charges. The stolen motorcycle was recovered from inside of the van. LAPD-North Hollywood Division detectives are conducting this investigation.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this vehicle at the owner’s request in April 2007.
