LAPD Officers Quickly Recover Classic Mustang Stolen from Victim’s Home

On the afternoon of Saturday, March 17, 2012, the owner of a 1965 Ford Mustang Classic went for a drive, came home and parked his vehicle in front of his home. The following afternoon, he discovered that someone had stolen his car and immediately reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division.
The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the Mustang’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder within the Mustang. Neither the owner nor police had to take any further action to activate the LoJack network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than an hour later, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Mustang on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional cues on the computer, the police tracked and located the vehicle. The only damage, according to the victim, was a “punched ignition”. The vehicle was retrieved by the victim, who commented that he was glad he purchased LoJack when he first took ownership of the Mustang in 1999, and was thrilled that it still worked 13 years later.
