NYPD Officers Recover Chrysler Stolen from Street in Astoria in Long Island City

On the night of March 16, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Chrysler 300 parked and locked his vehicle on the street in Astoria, Queens, while he went out with friends. When he returned for the vehicle, he found it missing, and immediately called the Police of the 114th Precinct, NYPD.
NYPD officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Chrysler’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the Chrysler 300. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, NYPD 11th Precinct officers picked up the Chrysler’s LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the computer, they located the vehicle, hastily parked, in the Long Island City. The officers conducted surveillance on the Chrysler, but when they were unable to locate any suspects, they took the undamaged vehicle into custody.
The owner was contacted and was elated to learn that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially with such no damage.
