BMW 330i Stolen and Recovered in Santa Rosa — Suspect Arrested for Auto Theft, Drug-Related Charges

On March 16, 2012, the owner of a 2004 BMW 330 discovered that his car was stolen from where it was parked in Santa Rosa, California. The owner called the local California Highway Patrol office to report the theft.
CHP officers prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the BMW’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the BMW. Neither the owners nor police had to take any further action to initiate the LoJack tracking system, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Approximately two hours later, CHP Santa Rosa and Sonoma County Sheriff’s officers, equipped with LoJack’s On-Board Police Tracking Computers, picked up the BMW’s silent LoJack tracking signal in the city of Santa Rosa. Police units coordinated their tracking efforts and located the BMW in the northern section of Santa Rosa, caught in traffic. The lone driver was stopped and arrested for auto theft, DUI-drugs and several other narcotic-related charges. The owner was contacted to reclaim his undamaged vehicle.
