Baltimore City Air Unit Locates Stolen Dodge Intrepid Minutes After Theft is Reported

On March 12, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Dodge Intrepid reported the vehicle stolen from the 3800 block of Buena Vista Avenue in the northern section of Baltimore City. The responding officer conducted a preliminary investigation, completed a vehicle theft report, and had the Dodge’s information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, flight officers received the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Dodge on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. Following the directional and audible LoJack signal, flight officers tracked the Dodge to the 3900 block of Roland Avenue in Baltimore City. There, they located the unoccupied vehicle. Detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team responded and after conducting a brief surveillance, they recovered the undamaged vehicle. The grateful owner was notified of the recovery.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Intrepid at the new car buyer’s request in May 2003.
