San Diego Police Air and Ground Units Recover Stolen Honda Civic Within Hours of Theft

On the night of February 21, 2012, the owners of a 2008 Honda Civic discovered that their vehicle had been stolen, and quickly reported the theft to the San Diego Police Department. The responding officer verified the theft and after obtaining all pertinent vehicle information, completed a stolen vehicle report. The officer then had the Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases – a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery System Network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than two hours later, San Diego Police air and ground units began to pick up the silent homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computer installed in the helicopter and patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the tracking computer, the officers located the abandoned Civic in the 8500 block of Neva Street. The undamaged vehicle was recovered by police and stored for safekeeping until it could be returned to the grateful owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic at Fuller Honda in May 2008.
