Los Angeles Area Agencies Recover Cadillac Escalade Stolen — and Recovered Using LoJack — for 2nd Time

On February 22, 2012, detectives from the Los Angeles County Auto Theft Task Force’s TRAP were working a large-scale investigation involving several stolen vehicles and multiple suspects. One of the vehicles was a 2004 Cadillac Escalade that was entered as stolen by TRAP earlier that day. Within minutes of the police entering the Escalade’s information into the state and federal stolen vehicle crime database, Baldwin Park Police Department patrol units began to pick up the Escalade’s silent LoJack signal on their onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computers.
After obtaining a description of the Escalade, the officers followed the computer’s cues and tracked and located the vehicle, parked in a residential driveway in Baldwin Park. Additional Baldwin Park officers responded to the scene and set up containment. Detectives from TRAP’s San Gabriel Valley Team were also alerted, and quickly responded to lead the investigation. Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant on the location. Officers recovered the undamaged vehicle and later released it to the grateful owner. The case remains under investigation by TRAP.
It should be noted that this is the second time that the Cadillac Escalade has been stolen – the first time, in December 2005, the vehicle was also tracked and safely recovered by officers using LoJack.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade by Crestview Cadillac at the original owner’s request in July 2005.
