Stolen Ingersoll Bobcat Skid Steer Recovered in Sacramento, Less than an Hour After Theft Reported

On Monday morning, February 27, 2012, a construction worker arrived at his jobsite to discover that a rented 2002 Ingersoll Rand Bobcat Skid Steer had been stolen sometime over the weekend. The victim quickly contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report the theft.
After gathering the information necessary for the stolen vehicle report, Sacramento deputies had the information about the skid steer entered into the California and national crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the stolen skid steer. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Transponder, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Just 10 minutes later, deputies with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Sacramento Police Department began to receive the silent LoJack signal emitting from the stolen equipment on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers. Following the directional and signal strength cues from their computers, they tracked and located the skid steer in a residential area in the 4500 block of Auburn Bl Sacramento. No suspects have been identified at this time.
The victim was contacted and responded to the location with a trailer to take possession of this valuable piece of equipment, less than an hour after reporting it stolen.
